WANT TO MEET NEW YORKERS ON THEIR COMMUTES?

W4 Newsstand is a public art project on the downtown BDFM platform at West 4th St. It provides New Yorkers with free products, services and information.

We work with artists, makers, brands, organizations and neighbors to activate the newsstand with us. Nothing is sold or advertised; rather, it’s all about providing New Yorkers with the essentials, earnest and amusing, on their commute.

Collaborations rely on donations, which makes it possible for the Newsstand to continue to be free for all New Yorkers.

TREES IN THE SUBWAY

For one week during Climate Week, the W4 Newsstand turned into an underground forest. Commuters saw green while they waited for their train, enjoyed a library full of books about our environment, and a daily news desk, Wild Desk, featuring climate leaders.

This collaboration was made possible by New York Lab, Urban Data Response, and One Architecture.
